Penalty Abatement

Let us seek abatement of your penalties due to reasonable cause and get a reduction in the amount you owe.

The Internal Revenue Code authorizes the abatement of penalties imposed by the IRS for failure to file tax returns, for failure to pay tax as well as other penalties, if the failure is due to reasonable cause, and not willful neglect.

Forgiveness of penalties (or IRS Penalty Abatement) is decided on a case-by-case basis. Generally, if the taxpayer exercised ordinary business care and prudence and was, nevertheless, unable to file the return on time, the delay is considered due to reasonable cause. Also, a failure to pay may be due to reasonable cause if the taxpayer exercised ordinary business care and prudence, yet could not pay the tax liability.

If the IRS determines that failure to pay or failure to file was due to reasonable cause and not willful neglect, the penalty will not be assessed. You would still be responsible, however, for the underlying tax owed plus interest due.

What our Clients are saying

Mr. Bronson reviewed our case in a consultation and told us directionally what we should have done and ultimately did do regarding our tax matter. We visited one of the highly advertised and equally as expensive attorneys and Bill offered more value for money at a fraction of the cost. The expensive guy told us what we couldn’t do and what wouldn’t work. Mr. Bronson gave us solutions and he was correct. At 1/3 the cost and twice the results, I’d recommend and use him again. He was also timely in responding to emails, which was appreciated! Wish we hadn’t needed Mr. Bronson, but grateful for his help!

Ruth B

I am a small business owner. As the business grew, our federal taxes went through the roof. Most of our profits went back into the business, so when it came time to pay Uncle Sam, we were short on cash to fully pay several years in a row. It quickly began to add up and the IRS placed a lien on our home. After much research, we engaged Bill Bronson to help us negotiate with the IRS. Mr. Bronson was a patient, confident and supportive consultant as we made our way through the process, which lasted just short of one year. Mr. Bronson negotiated a reasonable monthly payment contract for us, and we just made our first payment. The lien won’t be removed for a few years, but simply knowing we addressed the problem successfully is more than reassuring. PAY YOUR TAXES ON TIME to avoid making the same mistakes we did. However, if you end up in a similar place in which we did, The Bronson Law Firm is an exceedingly reputable resource, and we highly recommend their expertise.
